The Layer Saver™ pallet system is an innovative product that was developed to solve a major shipping problem that exists in all industries. Products shipped on standard wood or plastic pallets are subject to several problems while in transit. Most truckloads are shipped under weight because in order to take advantage of the maximum weight of a trailer (44,000 lbs.) most products would arrive at their destination severely damaged due to compression and shifting in the trailer. The more products stacked on a wood pallet increases the probability that the bottom layers will be damaged and in many cases completely unusable when they arrive. The Layer Saver™ system was developed to specifically eliminate crushing, bowing and other damage issues.
During the development process, it became apparent that significant freight cost reductions are an added benefit when the Layer Saver™ system is fully employed. The savings are generated from increasing the cube of the trailer being shipped without fear of having damaged or crushed product arrive at their distribution center. For example, one of our test customers was able to successfully ship a load containing 864,000 units versus a standard of 518,000 units. To clearly state the effect of this example, this one product for one customer in one month reduced the number of truckloads from 18 to 12.
